Amy + Anthony’s Jane’s Carousel Wedding

Amy and Anthony celebrated their 13th anniversary on their wedding day surrounded by family and chosen family who flew in from all over the world to celebrate this milestone moment at the iconic Jane’s Carousel in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Theirs is a story about two scientists who fell for one another at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where they worked together in a lab to discover how to mend broken hearts.

Here’s an excerpt of their love story told during their ceremony:

Over much data collection and scientific research, they got to know one another as colleagues do and EVENTUALLY found their way to each other’s hearts. Amy knew they were kindred spirits pretty early on and developed a crush before Anthony surprised himself with this romantic realization.

They felt an immediate shift on one fall Thursday night in 2009 at Mustang Sally’s where the music was blaring and the Chili Cocotinis were flowing. Despite the typical loud NYC scene, you two felt like you were in your own little bubble - your own world -when you shared your first of countless kisses.

Everything became crystal clear as you recognized how lucky you are to have found in each other someone undeniably remarkable! To quote THE Albert Einstein, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

Standing here today, as scientists who fell in love, you are very much rooted in facts, research, and analysis while simultaneously appreciating that sometimes the alignment of those facts can lead to something once perceived as improbable or even impossible.

Something miraculous maybe. The series of seemingly insignificant decisions you each took in your respective lives connected in such a way to lead you to this once-in-a-lifetime kind of love! Despite the 10,000 miles between you, 14-hour time difference, and combined 5 years of long distance - you were fully committed. Never wavering. For you being together feels like fireworks and magic and rainbows and unicorns!  As Anthony once said, “Amy is the light in the darkness that always points me to where my heart and soul most belong. . . home.”

So while the world was much dimmer during those months and years apart, they intentionally stayed connected through daily phone calls and scheduled trips. It also helps that they’re stubborn, determined individuals, as scientists are known to be. As they once said in shared thought, “every new hypothesis is just another opportunity to fail so you gotta be flexible and dogmatic in order to follow through to the very end.”

That’s how one gets to those life changing discoveries (those miracles), right?! From the start, you two have committed to trying to understand each other, to seeking common ground, to supporting one another endlessly, and being one another’s safe haven. Over the years you grew more and more certain that you found in each other someone who deeply understands you at your core. Someone who makes you feel safe with their patience, generosity, playful nature, and good humor.

Someone who brings balance to your world, who you can learn from and with, who inspires you to grow into your best self, and who always has yours and your relationship’s best interest at heart.

Over the course of these 13 years, you’ve recognized that this partnership, in many ways, has become one of those life changing discoveries. The kind that gives you goosebumps and makes you leap for joy!

Amy and Anthony wanted to include their loved ones in their ceremony in meaningful ways so they welcomed their brother-in-law and sister-in-law to share two distinct readings - one romantic and the other silly - a sweet blend of their personalities that sparked lots of laughs and Aww’s. They also included a ring warming with their closest loved ones, their siblings, sibling-in-laws, and parents.

The ring warming was an opportunity during their wedding ceremony for their family to intentionally (and telepathically) infuse their wedding rings with their loving sentiments, hopes, prayers, and wishes before they’re officially pronounced married! Here is an excerpt of this moment of connection:

You six, standing beside Amy and Anthony, are their close crew of loved ones who have shared countless dinners, drinks, hugs, illuminating conversations, and laughter with them over the years. You’ve all been a part of their journey in one way or another, offering them comfort and a listening ear as they navigated long distance.

You’ve celebrated family holidays and birthdays together and showed up for them with much love during every moment in between. You’ll be there with them through each new chapter in their lives, rooting for them and growing alongside them for the NEXT 13 years and BEYOND!

Amy and Anthony appreciate you ALL greatly so your loving support and steady presence means more than any words can ever fully express! This collective energetic warmth that you are radiating is being infused into Amy and Anthony’s wedding rings.

Amy and Anthony left their heart print in Dumbo as they marked their first day of married life surrounded by the loving energy of their closest loved ones! It was such a blast getting to know them and including touches throughout that honored their quirks, their interests, the challenges they worked through together, and OF COURSE their profound love for one another.

As Ted Mosby from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ once said, “None of us can vow to be perfect. In the end all we can do is to promise to love each other with everything we got, because love’s the best thing we do.” Love is the best thing we do and we’re lucky to witness the beautiful love stories y’all share with us. Thanks for trusting us, Amy and Anthony!
